Initial thoughts : Bad idea putting all those Audio tags together in one page like that.

If your system's struggling to load the page/function correctly, try using Opera. That seems to handle it all much better.

The results are amazing. This is definitely a better way to do it. They've obviously got the AI to generate notes, then played those notes with instruments. Or at least, it sounds much more like that, than the other version that tried to reproduce sounds, instead of instruments.

There is still some clarity issues and the quality could be better. But this is going to be great!

Yeah, having listened to a bunch of them, it's all less mushy than the previous versions.
If you listen carefully, you can still hear the mushy drums and mushy pianos and mushy guitars, but they all sound clearly defined as their own layers of mush.
I think what it's doing, is it's trying to reproduce the sounds like before, but it's doing it all separately, then smushing it together at the end.
..
Again, I think.

There's a link to the Paper, but I'm not in the mood for a read-a-thon, right now!!

This generating is sequential, It predicts the next token afaik. So maybe audio block after audio block. They need to get these blocks in the rights shape or something.

If you listen to the "Long Generation : Melodic Techno", about 15 seconds in comes a really big long "noise" boom thing.
That, to me, is quite clearly on another layer than the other instruments.
With the old OpenAI Jukebox, the noise would've interfered with the rest of the generation, caused nasty feedback, and it all would've become a hazy mess thereafter.

.. Again, I'm guessing, here, but that's what it sounds like to me.

I am reading through the paper. They are indeed using layers of systems. One acoustic model. They also train on the free music archive(fma) with a couple of millions clips.

They hired specialists to write 5k of quality music sequences.

They use long term models and shorter term ones. They use their previous systems.

I'm really liking the "Tribal drums with flute" tracks

Yeah, has a shadow of the beast and synthesizer feel to it!

I am stil not sure how much time the generation takes and the compute power. The previous one took half a day or more per minute. So that might be a (big) problem.

techcrunch.com/2023/01/27/google-created-an-ai-that-can-generate-music-from-text-descriptions-but-wont-release-it/

Long link.

They wont release until they have solved copyright issues. When Napster was here. People were getting sued for 150.000 dollars per stolen song. That is a big fine.
1% of generated music now is directly copied from training data.

No idea when their 'new' version wil be out. Maybe others wil release a bigger and better system in the coming months.

I just listened to a 'aiva' game music attempt. (Fireflower) It sounds unstructured.

I signed up for the waiting list. And to sometimes do a 5 minute survey.

Note : Safari in particular doesn't like having too many Audio tags on a single page, so if you do include some mp3's, don't use the [mp3] tag too often.
Gawd, this feels like when I used to have to limit youtube tag usage.. But at least that wasn't hardcoded into the browser.
Wonder if I can fix that somehow..?

God damnit, Google, why'd you always have to region lock things?!

Anyhoo, Google's done a new version of MusicLM
MusicFX gives a much more polished result, IMO.
TechCrunch has a writeup about it, and it should be available in the Google Test Kitchen, if you can figure out how to access it.

I got myself a subscription to Poe. Been using DALLE now. I hope they wil keep adding different generators to the app.(music please!)

The psychologists on the app are doing me good there recently. Letting me guide and reframe my thoughts with snippets of text, like programming.
