On the topic of Internet speeds, mine just multiplied by 48 today, at the same price as before. Yeay for a quick connection!

Blimey! 48 times! Mine just got increased about 4x for an extra £1 a month, and I was grateful. Now I feel jealous!

Also, can anyone's hard drive cope downloading at that speed (1 Gbps)?!

18 million euros isn't that much money. It even says in the article that many companies may be investing as much as 6 billion by 2013. I'd like to see more money invested by the EU, much more.

I use a 30mbit connection and to be honest, i can't tell a difference half the time. What's the use in a fast car when the highway is clogged constantly...

Sorry, forgot to add "mobile" to the title!

I'd be happy just to get a plain stationary upload speed that doesn't look like it's coming from a 1980's modem!

But reliability is my biggest issue. Regardless of what speed you should be receiving, it should always be at that speed.

I'd disagree JL235. Here at university I don't care if I'm getting 5MB/s, or 4.5MB/s

I've had ISPs in the past that are fast only during certain hours and dead slow during others. I'd much rather have the middle ground, all the time, then very fast or very slow.

These days however, things have much improved.
