Socoder -> Question of the Day -> QOTD : Got Mail?

Posted : Saturday, 02 January 2010, 06:39
Jayenkai
What ever happened to Email? I get about one a day, nowadays, and that's usually from Dixons, desperate to get me to buy something, or Facebook telling me something that it's already told me in 7 other great big red notifications.

Not even the piles and piles of ordinary rubbish spam cluttering my inbox anymore.

Google's done a fine job of filtering out the rubbish, but what's left is really damn depressing!!!

QOTD : What was the last interesting email you got?

9 feckin' days ago..

Most of the "human-generated" ones I receive are about schoolwork, but next to that it's not much.

I get some from a guy I work with, the last one was about deloreans. Other than that, they're all automatic send-outs from various places.

A couple weeks ago about a research project. I usually get a more steady stream when school is in session, though often times it's because of mass e-mails sent by my instructors.

The last interesting email I got was between a few friends trying to figure out the best way to take advantage of a sale on some electronics website to get stuff for their thoroughly over-complicated DT Systems & Control projects!

The last one was from me, testing sending out e-mail from my new smartphone, and a reply from my mother in the UK saying "yes, it works"

I use e-mail a lot to talk to friends and family. I also get plenty of relevant automated and group mail each week, mainly from my uni.

Facebook seems to fill the gap here for me. Plus all my non-techy friends hardly check their email. It's more of a tool to sign up for websites with to them.

Most of the spam started when my sister badgered me into signing-up on tagged.com. You wouldn't believe some of the filth that get s sent to my inbox !
