Nice to know I am not alone with Mouse issues with Windows that suddenly popped up. Linkage

Really no idea why this popped up a couple of weeks ago and reinstalling did not fix things. Was suddenly having to click on things multiple times. First thought the last update of Firefox was buggy, got rid of that, still an issue. Grrr. Mouse is very new, and the battery is new.

For me, following these three fixed the issue:

- in mouse settings uncheck enhance pointer precision

- device manager go universal serial bus controllers properties and remove allow computer to turn off device to save power, in power options

- in control panel power options high performance change advanced power settings, USB settings USB selective suspend settings - Disable

Must be a introduced bug with a update recently? My mouse pointer was gone this morning. But it popped back after a while.

This is the odd one, Pakz. I have all updates completely blocked on that system. And truly blocked. It is still running the same version of Windows it shipped with a few years back. Very odd.

Based on reports it is an issue that popped up several years ago for folks, BUT, that is also the era of the version of Windows I am using.

I have no idea what set it off, in my case. Things had been fine. I must have installed something that triggered it, but when reinstalling Windows and all of the software, I could not find the trigger.

Oh well, issue solved for now. Gotta love Windows, even when you do not let it update, it will still randomly come up with an issue to cause you grief.

Well, now that no longer is working. *sighs*

My bluetooth arc mouse would lag a lot for no reason, (only bt device paired) and would require clicking a couple of times and shaking. Then it would go off again. It was working fine for a good couple of years.
Switched back to a trackball.

I get mouse issues from time to time. Usually is a sign to give the PC a little attention and clean it up a bit. If the problem persists I uninstall the USB drivers/devices and reinstall. Sometimes just changing which USB port the mouse is plugged into seems to help. Otherwise I ditch the mouse with the issue entirely and use a different mouse. USB devices are certainly able to get bugs or viruses, and without any way that I know of to clean them with AV software or to flash the rom or update the firmware, kind of just something that we have to deal with and stay ahead of, I guess.

Based on that link, it has been an issue for a while and there is no rhyme or reason.

I am using a VERY new mouse and I generally only use Logitech mice. Saw some nice light purple Logis in the store and bought all they had, since I love the color and have several systems. Can't say I have ever had an issue with Logitech mice before, they last forever.

Will have to dig out some of my older (but still new) Logitech mice and I think I still have a couple of MS mice and try them. The only other alternative is to let Windows apply updates, but I would prefer not to do that.

Yeah, come to think of it Logitech seems pretty reliable, whereas those mice that come branded with a PC's name; eg. Dell, Acer, HP, tend to have issues for me.

Logitech mice are pretty reliable. I liked my MS mouse, but the right button (which I almost never use) quit working after several months.
