Wearable Circuits

https://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/182328/scientists-develop-bendy-circuit-boards.html
US scientists have developed flexible silicon circuit boards, which they claim will pave the way to wearable computers and other biomedical devices.

[snip]

"The notion that silicon cannot be used in such applications because it is intrinsically brittle and rigid has been tossed out the window," says John Rogers, a founder professor of materials science and engineering at the University of Illinois, developer of the circuits.

...

Then again, I'm having trouble thinking of anything that this could be useful for!

I can think of plenty of uses. First more flexible devices that don't have big chunks of plastic hidden in the middle of them, like wristband mobile phones. Lots of organisations like the military and coast guard would also want to be able to embed electronics in their personnels clothing. Life monitors, GPS and other safety equipment better integerated into coats and life belts incase people fall overboard into the sea. The same for helping to monitor a soldier whilst in the field.

Good point, I guess I'm unimaginative. The best I could think of was a super-expensive coat that ran SETI@home.

LOL.
A "SetiCoat" ?

I'm still waiting for tee shirts with uploadable animated designs.

Step towards making a stealth suit

that one has already been done!

It's not perfect, but it looks really spooky as a result.

How about a layer that sits on the inside of your skull (with wireless of course) that downloads stuff directly to your brain?

I mean a real stealth suit , metal gear solid/predator like . Can you point me in the direction of the suit thats already made, it's not that projector on the front, camera on the back one is it ?

Maybe we'll be able to soon wear color-changing shirts and upload whatever pictures we want to display that day on them...

@Golix, I think the most effective one uses a special surface that bends light so that any light hitting you is refracted round.

Can't find much on the net about that one but accordning to wikipedia, there are proof-of-concept prototypes and many experts consider it technically feasible, and they reckon that the British Army has tested an invisible tank. When I first heard about the technology, they were thinking it would work well on ships.

Give it a few years, you'll have one!

Bit more on this page: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invisibility#Invisibility_in_physics

A recent breakthrough (2006) at Imperial College London has shown that invisibility is possible by using specifically patterned crystals made up of nanoscale boxes that hold electrons. When light hits these crystals, it becomes entangled within the boxes, causing the object to become transparent.

And the Invisibility by technology section is quite interesting too.

Cool . Thing about the lightbending approach is you can't see out of it without having your eyes uncovered. I guess they could use ultrasound and convert it to vision instead(made easier by flexi curcuits I'm sure ). Combined with a suit of that flexible rubber that hardens when it is struck you would be the ultimate ninja hehe.
