I used to go to a gym, but nowadays I only run (~8 km) every Monday. Also, I occasionally play basketball with some friends, but that is not as regularly.

Do you ever move your butt away from the chair, go out, and do something physically exhausting, or is that too heretical for your programmer's pride?

8km? is that 3 Miles?

Currently I jog at least a mile everyday and do some weightlifting (I'd do more but I can barely do this without being bored silly). But thats nothing compared to last summer and fall, where I would spend 8 days in a row twice a month backpacking/hiking working ten hour days with picks, sledgehammers, chainsaws, axes, and gas powered rock drills. *sigh* I'll never be that fit again (I lost 40 pounds in about a month).

I used to walk to hike to the top of Victoria mountain in Hong Kong and run a path at the top, about 4 or 5 times a week.

Now I am running laps around the area where I live. According to Google Maps it equates to almost exactly a mile per lap, so yesterday I did over 4 miles and today I did another 2. I plan to continue running laps everyday but need to work on stretching before and after. If I had of stretched properly yesterday I would have done more then 2 miles today.

I can't do as much walking or running as I'd like 'cause I get tired quite easily still.

But I recently bought a set of weights. I'm lifting 5kg in each arm now and already the extra muscles have come in really handy now that I'm building and re-arranging furniture for my mum. I feel much healthier too.

Just started a regular exercise regimen a couple weeks ago at the gym with a friend of mine;

tuesday - triceps, forearms, abs
wednesday - legs, calves
thursday - shoulders, abs

and we run a mile or two most days

I rarely do enough exercise these days, I used to skate everywhere, skateboarding uses up a LOT of energy, but after I gave that up (too old ) I put on a little weight, now, about the only exercise I get is walking to and usually from work, which is only about one mile each way.

Check out my excellent homepage!

Apart from weekly enforced exercise... sorry, 'games' lessons at school, up until last week I had a paper round every Wednesday. Alas, since the newspaper company ran two different papers, with the recession no-one wanted to advertise in both. Thus, my paper became less and less profitable, and was cut last week. Ah well. The pay was rubbish anyway.

I do about 20 miles every day on my push bike (commuting - I don't drive). I don't do it primarily for exercise, but it does keep me fit! I prefer the outdoors to being in a gym.

I just finished my round a couple of hours ago I find that it helps to have a specific track you always run on. Keeps you motivated, and gives you a gist about how much you've got left. When running on a machine, you don't really get the same feel for how far you've run. It's also a lot easier doing it with someone else too.

yes, its good and motivating to have somebody else
to exercise with. I do like the Nordic Track and it works the whole body. Its like walking, jogging and cross country ski too.
I like to exercise outside too. And when I get in better shape I will start to bike and swim again.

You are right Hotshot. The trainers tell everyone that they need to allow the muscles a day to rest, heal if needed, and grow.
