Socoder -> Concept/Design -> File flicking

Time to start popping the load/save abilities into JNKPlat2010, but that means all that annoying file structure stuff, and having to dig through folders and things.
Bah..
I always hate this bit!

Any thoughts on what would make a nice file viewer style?

Doesn't Blitz offer the standard Open/Save GUI window? Why not use that?

Actually, it's more the flicking through levels within each file that's the bigger deal.

Each "Level Pack" can have a mountain of individual levels within it, and those can either be WIP unfinished levels, or properly done saved encoded levels.

I'm thinking maybe you'd click a file, then all the levels would sprawl out from it, or something?

I dunno.. Been trying to come up with something all day, and nothing's really popped into my head, yet..

My suggestion, don't offer a file structure. Instead place all saves in one folder (within the JNKPlat program files or the users) and then display them all in a list. Like a classic console save game list.

I agree with JL... keeping all the saves in one place is nice and simple.

Job done.
(edit mode only. Ingame mode won't be picking individual levels, only packs..)

The levels NEED to be inside packs.
If they're not, you're going to end up with a huge list of 100+ levels, and have to flick through the giant list to find X/Y level.

JNKPlatDS08 contains 110 levels, but the player only needs pick between the 10 available packs.
Simple for player, advanced for editor, but still nothing stupidly complex.
