On Poll: The moon landing was false, they didn't go because The Clangers threatened to chew the astronaughts new arseholes if they went there.

They are true, I watched the documentary check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0qagA4_eVQ

I don't know really because I weren't there, I just voted false because I wanted an excuse to justify the existence of Clangers. Meh!

Nope, Walace and Gromit faked it too. I didn't see any Clangers.

@Steve To paraphrase Aliens (and prove how wrong THEY were) "It's a rock. Nothing lives there."

Clangers FTW

I watched that astronaut go up today, I can see why America would rather watch I love Lucy than the second moon landing. Other than the 8000mph thing it was a bit dull.

I would be board shitless if I sat and watched that.

There are still too many problems here on earth without sending more out into space. A huge waste of money IMHO.

With all the git excitement of that British fella going for his jollies up there in that tinhut in the sky... It occured to me...

He's going to get proper real sunlight... Like... Good gear... The jammy bas[transmission ceased]

@rockford - a lot of the science and tech from the space programs have helped here on Earth.

Also at the end of the day, for Humans to survive in the long run we need to get off this rock some time in the future.

We're not gonna get very far with chemical rockets though, antigravity needs to be conquered first.

Many of the experiments created for the space programme could/would have still been developed anyway. I'm not convinced that any of it is particularly worthwhile when there is still poverty, famine, war, pollution, long-term energy problems and other issues here on earth yet they spend billions of dollars off-world.

As for the future of mankind - we're all fecking doomed. We can't even get on with our neighbours - how are they possibly going to send hundreds/thousands of people thousands of miles to make some rock habitable? At what cost? There are too many technological issues to make it viable at this point in time. I suspect it's not going to get any more possible any time soon too.

All the time we have governments and monarchs we will have poverty.

A world removed from governments would be even more corrupt

Maybe... maybe not.

There are many examples of past scientists being stopped in their experiments and it has taken hundreds of years to redo/expand on those tech.

Do you believe everything that the governments and government funded companies say?

Other than long-term (lack of) gravitational effects on organisms, there are virtually no experiments that can't be carried out here on earth for a fraction of the cost of doing the same experiments in space.

If anything takes a hundred+ years to get back to it probably wasn't worth doing anyway, unless they were waiting for tech to catch up to do what they were trying to achieve in the first place.

People/scientists generally stop in their experiments because of -

1) Failure (especially repeated)
2) Lack of funds and/or subject matter
3) Cost outweighs benefits
4) Lack of ability
5) Lack of understanding
6) Understanding improves (experiment then deemed pointless)
7) Something more relevant/demanding/important is taken on instead

With everything else aside, I still reckon there's Clangers on the moon. Little fat fuckers, eating moon cheese, and waiting in the shadows ready to chew-off the ears and noses and arsecheeks of anyone that lands there.

|edit| And I know that me going on about Clangers annoys the fuck out of people, that's why I do it. Hehe!!! |edit|

How can anyone get pissed off with Clangers? They're too cute and fluffy!

BTW Do Clangers eat moon cheese? I don't remember as I've not seen it in years. Didn't they used to eat soup made by the soup dragon? Or is that from a different programme altogether?

I dunno, I can't remember either, they must eat something. They could eat cheesy old socks for all I know. LOL

If they like cheesy socks then I would be in a whole world of trouble.

Nobody hates Clangers!
