Diabetes, the battle continues.

Something's going right for a change, just been told by my doctor that I only need to the finger-prick test 4 times a week instead of 8 times a day. I've managed to lose about a stone in weight over the past few months, if it lowers considerably more then my diabetes could go into remission.

My mother stil has it. She had cut back on chocolate and other bad things and she is in a safe zone now. Though she has lots of trouble not eating bad things.

I have a hard time finding juices with low sugar that she actually likes.

Things like wounds can be dangerous. As a joke sometimes I tell her how she would walk around with one leg if she keeps snacking on sugar.

I'm lucky that I don't have a sweet tooth, otherwise it would be FML!

One thing I do know about this type-2 diabetes thing, I do tend to drink a lot of water and seem to piss more than I drink. With the hot weather today that's all I've been doing: drink, piss, piss and even more piss. The Metformin also plays havoc on the guts, but I've got used to that now I've been taking it for nearly 5 years, it also strips out most of the body's vitamin B-12.

I have to be careful now that I'm on Glyclizide, have to make sure I eat little and often or risk going into a coma. I've kind of got that in check, hence the doctor telling me that I don't have to check my blood too often. So, if I can get my levels down to the lower depths then I could come off the medication; long way to go yet though I reckon, but I'm getting there.

Although I was diagnosed just under 5 years ago, the doctors reckon I probably had it far longer as I was on the borderline for a few years and then went unchecked for quite a while after I moved home.

I have not seen a doctor in 10 years. I am somewhat overweight though. Not sure what the signals are but I think I am ok.

I did 2 hours of rowing this morning. No problems there.

Tom Hanks was diagnosed also last year I think. He had it for years also without knowing.
