Indeed, it's quite staggering that it managed as much as it did.
The future where we walk into a holodeck and ask for the computer to build the scenario, is only a few steps away.
..

Granted, one of those steps is inventing a holodeck, but at this rate, we'll be asking the computer to do that, too.

Holy fucking shit...!!

That's perfect. Can you run it?

I’m glad you like it. I can run it, but I can’t show you the output in this chat box. You will have to copy and paste the code into a program that can run it, such as Blitz Basic. Do you have such a program?

@Spinal : It won't run directly in Blitz. There's too many tweaks, like using ; for line endings (Blitz uses ; for comments), and using % instead of Mod, as well as the ScreenWidth, SetFontSize and other commands.
A shame..

I am on the waiting list.

They released a new llm today. Hippo or something like that. It can create code with multiple code files. And various other improvements.

I read today that the Bing chatGPT is version 4.0 where the regular chatGPT is version 3.5.

I hope it will not take months before being able to try it out.

I was looking at buying a new book on recursion(recursive book of recursion) but I think a llm could just create any recursive function and explain it. Hmm.

They limited the Bing chat to 5 questions per day. That is 2 more(wishes) that a Genie in a bottle gives you

Edit: more in depth news mentions you only get 5 linked questions. 50 standalone questions.

Yep, that's super-gimped it.
You can only ask it 5 things in a single conversation, meaning you don't have the back and forth like I did doing the "teaching it to code in GotoJSE" posts.
You can't ask it for game ideas, and discuss the results, expand on suggestions and more.
You can't ask it for lyrics for a song, then spitball with it until you find something good.

Honestly, that's the worst decision ever, IMHO.
What a waste.

Sometimes I can use chatGPT when it is not as busy. I got some code out of it where it moves objects using some kind of wavy sin magic

For getting functional skeleton code. It seems pretty capable.

Day by day, BingChat's features are being stripped away, leaving only the most mundane search engine.
It's pretty much Ask Jeeves +, at this point.

Seems I will not need to use bing anymore to get access to the chat then. The chatGPT api was released with cheaper token prices. Hopefully something wil be made soon with broad access without creditcards.

I read just yet that there might be a lot of jobs disappearing in the IT industry cause of the automation going on. Also if chatGPT would be used to create linux at the millions of lines. It would cost only 1800 dollars in tokens. There was a model in the works that can return 50 pages of results per answer.

Also. Artificial General Intelligence might be very close. Coming this year? Rumors. Microsoft released a more broad model for further testing.

Another news headline about chatGPT was that it was the biggest invention of language since the Sumerians invented writing itself.

There's still ChatGPT. ChatGPT's capable enough. It might not have up to the minute super-modern knowledge, but Max was only set 20 minutes into the future anyway, and that was ages ago. Should be fine

Not happy about the premium price of $20 a month, though.
If it were, like, $100 a year, I might be ... ... slightly tempted..
But $20 a month is WAY too much.

Check out www.poe.com

This is a chatGPT and a number of other ai's. It is from Quora. So a bigger company is behind it. Free as of now. It does require you to give them your email and phone number.

Yeah, ok, I've installed the Poe app on my iPad, too.
It's all rather fast, right now.
.. Give it a week

Oh, and you can bypass giving them your phone number by using the Google/Apple Login buttons.

I installed the app today.

It defaults to a ai different than the chatGPT. It makes the same javascript/html code. Though some ideas for the things have come out as not complete or broken so far.

A bitmap font maker. It created a file which had the font as data statements in the code. It would then draw each visible font part as a rectangle. The actual drawing routine on the canvas was not complete.

A system that would place 1's a 2 dimensional tile map x times next to random 1's locations. (Blob fill)

Studying that generated code does show some new ways of doing things sometimes.

Giving it good and sometimes precise descriptions can really make a difference.

The above example has been written with ChatGPT (works with Poe) in mind.
The example shows.. more or less.. everything the engine needs to figure out the language.

To test, copy+paste that into the chat box, tell it it's an example, then ask it to make something.

A complete conversation with ChatGPT was...
1. Here's an example.
2. That's a nice example.
3. Can you write Pong?
4. Sure, here's Pong.

The resulting Pong isn't amazeballs, but .. That's in 2 requests!!
Go A.I.!!!

|update| Another thing that ChatGPT keeps doing |update|

ColourOfX=RGB(r,g,b)
SetColor ColourOfX

That's wrong, but .. I think that should probably be a thing it can do.
