September 5th, 2006.
That's the date of my first test post to the forum, here.
That means that not only is SoCoder 1 year old, but also it's been a whole year since CodersWorkshop's odd disappearance.

To celebrate the 1st year of Socoder, I've lined up a couple of Special Workshops, and I've got the super special Birthday theme on standby!

What else can we do, to make this month so special?

5th September??? That's my birthday!

Yay! Happy birthday SoCoder! and Shroom!

maybe we could commemorate it with an ├╝ber compo of some kind? we don't have to award material things, we could award a badge or something.

It should be noted that the "Super Special Birthday Theme" has been rejected due to "Went to work, came back, saw with fresh eyes, looked pretty awful!" reasonings.

I'll have another go, tomorrow!

Maybe they might bring coders workshop back on it's downtime birthday.......
Happy birthday Shroom and so coder.

Actually, IIRC it took about a week from the death of CodersWorkshop to me adding the forum here, so.. The downtime birthday's already been and gone.

New Site Addition thought...

A monthly challenge, to accompany the WW.
Without stepping on Retro Remakes Monthly challenge, I'm considering setting one up here.
To seperate ours slightly from theirs, I'm also considering making it a "Mid-Month" start/finish. Say the 15th of each month.

<<That means that not only is SoCoder 1 year old, but also it's been a whole year since CodersWorkshop's odd disappearance.>>

What ever happened to the old archives that had all that information?

Happy birthday to all applicable entities, and happy un-birthday to the rest!

@Jay, I like the monthly idea - I'd find it easier to get the time than for the weekly ones.

Happy birthday Socoder! Is it really a year already? I thought this site was way older than that... <shrug>

Wow... one year... I remember the first time I logged in... Wow... *walks away thoughtful*

But he is not alone.

Just relax... sometimes there's no need to argue.

Happy Birthday Socoder.net

does the time fly like there is no tomorrow! lol

A year? Is that all? I only found you recently but figured you'd been here longer than that. Mind you, I've been away from the scene for so long I'd forgotten how long ago it was that BlitzCoder was put to bed!

Congratulations to Jay and everyone else who's played a part in keeping this community alive for me to find it again

Here's to the next 12 months.

Oh and a thumbs up for the monthly comp idea. Not so much pressure that you feel you haven't got time to try anything but still a quick knock-about.

Happy Birthday!

Come rain or shine...

OK, I'll post the first of the new Monthly challenges tomorrow night, along with the week's workshop.
"2nd Wed of the month" ok for everyone?

Also, I'm considering adding a new theme each week, too, or at least.. As long as I have enough imagination and skill to handle a weekly theme! (So.. Probably about 2 weeks worth, then )
If you want to get some theme designing done, now's as good a time as any to get started.

So.. New things.
1) Monthly challenge.
2) Weekly theme.
3) ... I really should add Birthday's to the user profiles!!
4) FFS, stop being so lazy, Jay, and start adding some badges already!

Monthly challenge? It's a nice idea, but I won't enter, regardless of the theme (unless it's something really special ). I'm not going to be distracted and work on something else now.

Your doing my weekly theme idea,.. Wikid!

OOOH OOOH Monthly Challenge?!

Jay, can you please use my Doom idea?

Diablos, by Weekly theme, I didn't mean your whole "Tom Jones Mudchat" thing.. I meant a new site style being added each week.

This week it's the nice new Grey and Green "Memories of Xbox" style. And I'm amazed it turned out as well as it did!

Afro, I'm not going to use your Doom idea, or at least not right away. Maybe some time in the future. The coding challenges should be about programming games, not about porting them.

Hi Jay,
I love the new theme!

Only it looks like it needs a tiny bit of padding-bottom CSS-luvin' on the links in the top left navbar.

Other than that, it is very pretty

Wow, I used to post lots on CW, then it disappeared so I followed everyone from site to site, eventually finding this place, then one day it disappeared too , so I went back to Devcrunch only to find the forum was gone, so I pretty much gave up talking to other people about blitz. It makes me so happy to have stumbled upon this site again today , anyone remember me?
