hey all,

I went over to devcrunch.
To read up,look, and learn the latest and greatest
in whats going on and other information too.
And also write down more links and web sites
to 3d graphics and animation sites.

Shades of the old socoder!!
Their account has been suspended. Just like with
the old socoder. Dang!!
Also, I should've wrote down more of those links to
those animation and 3d web sites too.

I guess I just google the links. At least I have
the turbosquid and psionics3d sites.

cheers,

Hah, well, Oscar's server finally blew up then.

Luckily I have local copies of all my oscarent.net hosted files and I've found some reliable $3.99 (£2!!!) a month hosting.

But the phoenix-hosted SoCoder still stands... Yeay

Do you think Indigicon would link here then?

Would that be a good or a bad thing?

It would never be as good as this site anyway. This site is a lot like BlitzCoder, that's why it's so appealing.

I liked the site. Tbh I dont get why so many people here feel they got to moan about it. But it has been quite dead of late.

Well if it has to die it would be nice if we could redirect some of the users here. Some of the admin used to get a bit funny about it in the past, but if they are abandoning dev-crunch then i don't see why not.

Probably the exact same issue that Socoder had over there. I wouldn't worry about it.
I'll just assume that Oscar's still not updated his server.

He said he was doing that before Xmas!
Come on, Oscar!

I don't have a problem with DevCrunch, but I don't think it's that great. I don't like a select few of the users, and there is too big a gap between the good programmers and the bad. It's also pretty dead lately, and it's only a forum. It hasn't got any fancy bells and whistles like SoCoder.

Saying that, I go there regularly and post when I see something interesting. As I said, I don't have a problem with DevCrunch.

well,

I just wanted to go there in the first place
to get some of those 3d graphics and animation links.
I do like some of the people there.
Especially Oscar, and Dr Zarius(robleong) who went
back into time from that Planet of the Apes and who now lives happily in the human world of San Francisco.

Yet, I still go there (or went there) at times to learn
and see whats the latest and the greatest thats going on.

Wooo, guess this means that my oscarent hosted avatar is down.

It was based on a two years old photo anyway!

|edit| Crap re-stretch of freewebs hosted avabar then |edit|

Maybe Oscar and Robleong and some of the cool people will stroll over here then?

I notice Stealth's site is down too. Maybe it's all their turn after the SoCoder dilemma.

|edit| Sorry it's not down, it's just extremely slow. |edit|

devcrunch thanks to everyone who contributed to the old site.
the old site lasted like 4 months.

devcrunch Eek! We made the quick decision to pull the site and reopen as a resource for independent developers on a new server.
And changing to a new host and hosting the forum there got thrown out of the window?

DevCrunch is pretty much going to die off..

well guys,

I'll just happily enter the 3d cafe
call the bartender and have him make me up some
turbosquid to drink and eat.
And then causing my brain to go Psionics 3d.

I'll even meet a pretty lady and we will dance on the dance floor and....
do lots of the 3d links! ahhhhhhhh true.

I'll even ask the bar maid for some Dev snacks to
crunch on too.

//new editey: hobo, its on their web site.

cheers,

Your isp's proxy or DNS is probably still linking to the old site.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the site's been taken off of Oscarent.
(pinging oscarent.net gives a different IP than devcrunch.com)
I dunno who got the rights to Devcrunch, but I'm guessing it's whoever bought the original .com domain.

I spotted Oscar online early this morning and was about to start asking questions, but he quickly disappeared again, so I dunno... Either he was up all night changing the site, or he spotted the change, got pissed off and left.

What is it with these sites, lately?
